I am an outdoor enthusiast, bushcrafter, survivalist, adventurer, campaigner for getting children and adults of all abilities outdoors, author of Cooking Wild, food vlogger, Epilepsy Research Uk supporter, and a serving Fire Fighter.
Being diagnosed with Epilepsy when I was 17, being told I would never lead a normal life and face many restrictions as well as experiencing the stereotyping and negativity that comes along with the condition, I’ve used the outdoors and what it has to offer to break those barriers and take on many adventures all over the UK including taking on the National 3 Peaks challenge in full fire kit whilst carrying breathing apparatus, completing the famous special forces Fan Dance whilst carrying a 60kg log in Wales for charity, sleeping on the summit of mount Snowdon, summitting our highest peak Ben Nevis at night, completing an 80k mountain bike ride across the peak district national park and many more.
Now as currently being possibly the only serving UK firefighter with epilepsy, I’d like to help inspire people to achieve their goals despite what life throws at them and my biggest goal is to assist with research into the effects of altitude on people with epilepsy. I recently got asked how Epilepsy has affected my love for the outdoors and my answer was “my love and involvement in the outdoors is better than any medication in helping me cope with my condition”.
